<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I&#8217;ve gotten a lot of questions lately asking me “Hunter why would I use the raw scene when I could use Depop?” That&#8217;s a great question. The difference is The Raw Scene is a community and not just a marketplace. Depop is good for posting products and creating your own store but The Raw Scene is built for designers that enjoy connecting with their customers. When starting The Raw Scene we wanted to build a place that people could talk about and talk to new designers, fashionistas, and the trendsetters that are a part of our community.</span></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4780" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/B2709440-5D08-489C-807D-5F340008D5FB_1_201_a.png" alt="" width="300" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/B2709440-5D08-489C-807D-5F340008D5FB_1_201_a.png 300w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/B2709440-5D08-489C-807D-5F340008D5FB_1_201_a-150x150.png 150w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/B2709440-5D08-489C-807D-5F340008D5FB_1_201_a-100x100.png 100w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For the Shoppers</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When creating The Raw Scene we wanted a platform for unique clothing and unique views on how fashion is perceived. We are a community of unique trends that you won&#8217;t find at a box store and for good reason. We are here to support the little guy who has the best ideas and best clothing but maybe isn&#8217;t the best at sharing. Our job is to connect your unique interests and tastes in fashion to that guy. Better yet have a conversation with him about why he made the piece and what kind of effort it took to bring his vision to life.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Shopping The Raw Scene is super simple and there are no surprises. What you see is what you get. We had the consumer and Shop owner in mind during the entire process of creating The Raw Scene. We made it easy for you to shop and we made it easy for the designer to sell their hard work.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4812" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/DSC08051-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/DSC08051-300x200.jpg 300w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/DSC08051-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/DSC08051-768x512.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/DSC08051-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/DSC08051-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/DSC08051-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For Designers, and Resellers</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Less competition.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Luckily for Depop, they are big enough that they don&#8217;t need to advertise. When most people think of reselling or creating their own store they think of Depop. While this is good for Depop it makes it hard for them to send people to your store. You end up getting buried and have to do all of your own promoting. On the other hand, The Raw Scene is just getting started and we are gaining traction quickly. This means your store is getting Consistent views from people that have never heard of your store before. This is the prime time to join The Raw Scene because we can grow together and create our own waves in the fashion world!</span></p> </div>

Also shoutout to Hannah over at <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://therawscene.com/therawmall/biancardi-boutique/">Biancardi</a></span><a href="https://therawscene.com/therawmall/biancardi-boutique/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> Boutique</span> </a>for the pics!</p>
<p class="p1"><strong>The set-up</strong></p>
<p class="p1"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Backdrop</span></p>
<p class="p1">I&#8217;m not kidding when I say I use a bedsheet. A white bedsheet (non-fitting) from your local store of choice will run you about $10 and I would recommend the biggest size you can get.</p>
<p class="p1"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4611" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-200x300.jpg 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-600x900.jpg 600w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1505-scaled.jpg 1707w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" />Lights</span></p>
<p class="p1">You have a couple of options with this and as you might know, lighting is everything. You can go super budget and get two lights and rig up your own stands with a ladder or whatever you can find. Option two is buying a light stand kit from amazon for $50. If you have the cash to spend I would definitely do it because it will make so much of a difference to have good lighting.</p>
<p class="p1"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The Camera</span></p>
<p class="p1">I currently use my big old camera but when I’m in a pinch I use my phone. It&#8217;s crazy how good of pictures phones take now so if its all you have then don’t be scared to use it! My most liked picture on my photography Instagram is from my phone. Also, you don’t need a brand new iPhone, anything that takes pictures will work. If you aren’t getting good quality, check your lighting!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4595" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-600x900.jpg 600w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/MG_1439-2-scaled.jpg 1707w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Editing</span></p>
<p class="p1">I edit all my photos with Lightroom and photoshop. Does this mean you need both of those to get good quality pics? Absolutely not, I edited my first paid shoots with nothing but a couple of free apps (Lightroom app, Polar, Face-tune). if you have a computer I would suggest getting a light-room. But if you are on a budget then you can use gimp or Pixlr. If you like the look of my pics I have a preset pack in my store!</p>
<p>I know you&#8217;re on a budget so ill share a secret. I simply boost the contrast, shadows, saturation, sharpness, and then take away some of the highlights. You don&#8217;t need a whole lot on product pics but this edit will make it look sharp, clean, and professional.</p>
<p class="p1">People are very visual. I don’t care how clever of a title you have, if your pictures are bad quality then people wont buy. You can have professional quality pictures for less then $60 (assuming you have a phone) and you can up your chances of getting sales an incredible amount just by taking better pictures. If you have any questions or tips feel free to drop a comment! As always thanks for reading and have a good day!</p> </div>

				<div class="elementor-widget-container">
<p>If you have a love for thrifting or you are like a lot of people I know who have half a closet that they haven&#8217;t touched since last year, then re-selling your clothes is a perfect way to get rid of them and make some extra cash! in this article I&#8217;m going to go over how you can find great clothes and where to sell them!</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Where Do I Get Good Clothes?</span></p>
<p>lucky for you there are about as many thrift stores as there are coffee shops in the PNW. All you have to do is go in there and get to digging. don&#8217;t be afraid to pull out your phone and do some research before you buy. It&#8217;s amazing the stuff people will just give away! A lesson I learned is to buy things that you would wear, buy things that make you go &#8220;Hmm do I really want to sell this?&#8221; The reason I say this is because it&#8217;s hard to be an expert on someone else&#8217;s style but its easy to see something and be like &#8220;yeah I would wear this so I know for a fact someone else will!&#8221;</p>
<p>What if you don&#8217;t want to go thrifting? First of all, have you tried thrifting? I&#8217;m not sure what&#8217;s not to like but of course, I have a solution! Look into your very own closet or your friend&#8217;s closets and buy their stuff. The number of clothes I have in my closet that I don&#8217;t wear but I know would look good on someone else is unbelievable. That&#8217;s why I started re-selling, I had a gold mine in my closet and I didn&#8217;t even realize it!</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-4579 size-thumbnail" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_0538-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_0538-150x150.jpg 150w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_0538-300x300.jpg 300w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_0538-100x100.jpg 100w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" />Where Do I Sell Re-Sell Clothes?</span></p>
<p>Selling re-sale clothes can be a little tricky at times because you are competing against thrift stores, retail stores, and other re-sellers. You will have to put in some work when you start, but it pays off in the end. When starting, I would post them on the Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, and eBay. Or even post them online to your social media and see if anyone is interested. I have friends that have made a killing just selling clothes to other friends.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-4581" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-600x900.jpg 600w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MG_1108-2-scaled.jpg 1707w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" />Where Is The Best Place To Sell Re-Sell Clothes In Portland?</span></p>
<p>Well, The Raw Scene of course! we are only getting started over in The Raw Mall and soon enough we will be filled with designers and re-sellers! TRS (The Raw Scene) is a place for like-minded people who enjoy unique fashion. When people are looking for something fresh, The Raw Mall is where they go! If you want to get your products in front of the right market then send us a message and we can set up your very own store!</p> </div>

<p class="p1">Any photo that&#8217;s taken is art. But I believe that in order to stand out amongst all the other people that have a camera in their pocket you need to find your artistic edge. What I mean by this is creating your own style, a specific niche that people can follow. There are a couple of ways to do this so I&#8217;ll break it down in this post and explain how it will help!</p><p class="p1">First, it starts with simply snapping the picture. Something as simple as taking the picture with a weird looking angle can make a picture stand out. The framing of your subject, whether it’s a landscape shot or portrait is absolutely one of the most important things in photography. If you practice and study framing, you can improve your photography and give yourself that edge very fast.</p><p class="p1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4469" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--240x300.jpg" alt="" width="240" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--240x300.jpg 240w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--819x1024.jpg 819w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--768x960.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--1229x1536.jpg 1229w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--1638x2048.jpg 1638w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--600x750.jpg 600w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jonsfbljnbfslnjsf--scaled.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px" /></p><p class="p1">This next is going to seem obvious, it’s simply editing. There is no better way to make your pictures stand out than with good editing. It seems obvious but I see to many people make the same mistakes by completely copying someone else’s style! Now there’s nothing wrong with trying to mimic someone&#8217;s style because thats how you can learn fast but if your goal is to stand out then you can probably guess why this doesn’t work well! Editing is fun and it&#8217;s the step where you can create a color theme for your photography. When someone&#8217;s looking for a photographer and they see your unique style, and learn that you’re an expert with that style, they will call you to set up a shoot. It’s as easy as that.</p><p class="p1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4470" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/brtgrhrh-200x300.png" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/brtgrhrh-200x300.png 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/brtgrhrh-683x1024.png 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/brtgrhrh-768x1152.png 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/brtgrhrh-1024x1536.png 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/brtgrhrh-1365x2048.png 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/brtgrhrh-600x900.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" /></p><p class="p1">These two tips can go a long way. It took me a long time to figure out that creating my own style is way more fun than chasing down someone else&#8217;s style. Of course you can do whatever you want and whatever makes you happy, this is a common thing I say in my posts for a reason. Photography is supposed to be fun and as long as your out there taking pics then I’m happy! Let me know if these tips helped or if you have a good tip for standing out below. Thanks for reading and as always, have a great day!&#8217;</p> </div>

I know a lot of people who would never step foot in a thrift store and I know people who are in there every other day finding the best clothes that people no longer want. In this post I’m going to talk about what I like and dislike about thrift shopping and why I think everyone should try it at least once!</p><p class="p1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4460" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-200x300.jpg 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-600x900.jpg 600w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_4166-scaled.jpg 1707w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" /></p><p class="p1">I’ll start with what I don’t like. I don’t like all the clothes that are in there that don’t get swapped for new clothes. This makes it hard to want to go back because I don’t want to find the same clothes every time. The other problem that I run into is how expensive they price some of their items. The good thing about these problems is that they are easily fixed by going to a different thrift shop because there are so many it’s unbelievable.</p><p class="p1">Now let’s talk about why I really like thrift shopping. As you know i’m a big fan of unique fashion and there is no better place to find it then a thrift shop. It&#8217;s crazy the amount of good quality clothes you can find with the tag still on and currently trending. If you have a small amount of patience then finding something that you like is not a hard task. You just have to dig<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>deep and that&#8217;s part of the fun!</p><p class="p1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4461" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-200x300.jpg 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-600x900.jpg 600w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_7790-scaled.jpg 1707w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" /></p><p class="p1">One other thing that I hear people say is that they are scared of wearing something that&#8217;s second hand because they don’t want people to think they can’t afford nice clothes. The only thing I can think to say to that is &#8211;  who cares! It’s not about the brands that you wear its about how you style it. If I get a compliment on something that I got from the thrift store I always tell them where I got it and I’ve never had someone give me a sour response. It&#8217;s always “wow I love thrift shopping, good find” or “hmm, I thought it was all old crappy clothes, maybe I should try it”. </p><p class="p1">I think everyone should try going thrifting at least once and if you find something cool make sure to tag #therawscene because I want to see what you found! As always thanks for reading and have a great day!</p> </div>

<ol><li>The rule of thirds</li></ol><p class="p1">The first tip is more of a rule that most photographers follow. When I look at beginner photos the first thing that sticks out to me is the positioning of the subject. No photo is wrong but using the rule of thirds is a great way to improve positioning. Tthe rule is breaking your pictures down into thirds horizontally or vertical and putting the main focus on one of those imaginary lines. The reason for this is that it more pleasing to the eye. Try it and watch how quickly you improve!</p><p>2. Using a lens attachment</p><p class="p1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-4422 size-medium" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jgfgcjcg-225x300.png" alt="" width="225" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jgfgcjcg-225x300.png 225w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jgfgcjcg-768x1024.png 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jgfgcjcg-1152x1536.png 1152w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jgfgcjcg-1536x2048.png 1536w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/jgfgcjcg-600x800.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px" />My favorite type of photography is taking portraits. On my camera I only used a 35mm lens and I loved it. While using my phone, unfortunately I no longer had my beloved lens. But when I got a wide angle lens for my phone everything changed. At last, I could take my signature portraits right from my phone!</p><p>3. Get low</p><p class="p1">In Portraits or even landscapes moving your camera up or down can make a huge difference in the end result. One secret that I use is getting below my subject and shooting up towards them. This makes the subject look larger or taller than it really is. This creates a great contrast, especially when combined with a wide angle phone lens, it makes the subject pop! Try it next time you are taking pictures and look at how cool the angle is.</p><p class="p1">4. Get above your subject</p><p class="p1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4420" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9472-200x300.png" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9472-200x300.png 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9472-683x1024.png 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9472-768x1152.png 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9472-1024x1536.png 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9472-1365x2048.png 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9472-600x900.png 600w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" />This one works especially well for portrait photography. When taking pictures I try to get my lens the same level as their eyes or slightly taller then the model. This makes your subject look more natural and gives them more contour to their face as well as their body. Most models are taller then me so I have to stand on my tippy toes to make it happen. Even though I look goofy the end result is well worth it!</p><p class="p1">5. There are no real rules</p><p class="p1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4421" src="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-200x300.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="300" srcset="https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-200x300.jpg 200w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-600x900.jpg 600w, https://therawscene.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/MG_9085-scaled.jpg 1707w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" />Even though I started this article with a rule, rules were made to be broken! Especially with art, after all it is your creation. Many times I have completely disregarded all rules and thrown my subject smack in the middle of my frame to create exactly the vision I had. Play around and see what works for you. This is how you can find your own style and go against the grain if that&#8217;s what your into!</p> </div>
